74 XL350 Build

Post by Glenn » Sat Aug 18, 2018 7:44 am

Well this is where I start my rebuild of my old XL parts bike :D

It's an early numbered bike (frame #520) so I think it's worth saving 8-)

Frame is currently at the sand blasters getting cleaned up and the cases and engine covers are being clean tanked at the local engine shop ready for a coat of Spruce Green

I do have this one as well. Rides well but leaking oil like the Exxon Valdez :-?
So I'll build this one up to original first, then a rebuild of it.

Mine leaks oil too. Out of the rubber cover on the the clutch adjustment hole. Runs down to the top side of the muffler and spills over.

The cam chain guide locating slot was completely worn off on one side, so new section welded on and ready for a trim and tidy up. :-D

A few of the vapour blasted parts back
You really can't beat this process....AUD$200.
So with luck I'll get the frame painted this weekend and the newly Zinc plated wheel parts should be close as well now, then the build can really start :-D
